Q&A with Diesel Black Gold’s Andreas MelbostadLeave a Comment
You are back showing in Milan, how does it feel like to be back?
It is our first women’s show and it feels good to be back. We have showed in New York for a long time, which has been a great experience, but it felt like a natural moment to come back after creating a voice in New York. Milan has a lot of energy and gives the brand another very international and important voice in terms of the press. It gives us a different focus working from home in terms of the company and for the show – we can put our full attention to the show and production, when being in Milan.
What does the Diesel girl look like?
For me, (red. Andreas Melbostad) it is very much about attitude, and the idea of self-awareness and a way of confidence. I like to create a wardrobe that has the possibility for girls to self-express and make them feel empowered. I hope that today’s show felt empowered with an emotion to it. It is important for us to always integrate denim and leather in the collections to give a surprising dimension to the wardrobe.
The collections was slightly more feminine with feminine materials mixed with leather and denim – what was your inspiration for the autumn/winter 2016 collection?
Subconsciously it can be because we are back in Milan, but it is the idea of the girl during the night-time. It is such a cliché with the day and night looks, but we felt it could be a new cool twist to the collection. We played with mixing the elements like pairing the biker jacket with sequins with the dress. Which worked really well.
