Top 5 Moments from Copenhagen Fashion WeekLeave a Comment
The Best Collaboration: Orit Elhanati x Mark Tan
This fashion week the mysterious and dramatic jewelley from Orit Elhanati was awakened at Mark Kenly Domino Tan’s runway show on the Thursday night. He creates beautiful, breath-taking works of art and she has a decadent way of being playful in her jewellery. The collaboration on the runway was exquisite and seemed like a match made in heaven.
The Best Show: Ganni
For AW16, creative director of Ganni, Ditte Refstrup has gone “Anglophile”, with references from Damon Albarn to Queen Elizabeth, the 90s era is a practically endless source of inspiration. The almost iconic nightclub Penthouse at Gl. Torv was transformed into a grungy salon for the evening. The audience was placed in booths and the nightclub bathed in red limelight and hedonist Brit-pop was banging out the speakers.
The Most Impressive Location: Glyptoteket
The grand atmosphere of the Glyptoteket Art Museum was the perfect surroundings for By Malene Birger’s show. The ultra-modern perspex installation was a perfect contrast to the very historical setting at Glyptoteket. By Malene Birger’s designer Christina Exteen showed her strongest collection to date.
The Best event: The Jewellery Room
The Jewellery Room is successfully breaking its boundaries, the number of visitors is growing, which creates such a hype that there is a new interest from jewellery designers all over the world who want to curate a platform for their accessory design. This jewellery venue takes place in an old church in the heart of Copenhagen and is packed with new season deliveries of what Scandinavians master – beautiful diamond, gold and silver pieces.
The Best Place for Lunch: 42Raw
When being on the run during fashion week, it is important to have a healthy lunch. The best place to go (on an everyday base actually) is 42RAW. They serve the most delicious vegan dishes that are only heated to a maximum of 42 degrees – hence the bar’s name. In this way the food retains the maximum amount of vitamins and enzymes. They serve everything from lasagne to burgers to mixed salads, all of course made from vegetable and gluten free bread. They also make a killer Chai-latte on almond or cashew milk.
