  1. How To Work The Updated Folklore Trend

    Isabel Marant Spring/Summer 2016

This summer we’re moving a bit away from all things boho and embracing the fancier folk trend. Do as Isabel Marant and pair your embroidered blouse with a pair of metallic pants or go for the floaty summer dresses, a fair amount of embroidery and a pair of over the top coloured pearl earrings.

The colour I’m talking about is the new pink in a colour palette from metallic to pale and blush. The soft shade has a feminine feel that works perfectly with a more casual denim look or styled with a monochromatic look in shades of pink. The hue is the epitome of summer and simply works excellent as a contrast to the very menswear inspired shoe styles. I’ve chosen some of my favourites that is available right now.

When it comes to summer looks, I’m not always in the mood for colourful, but I like a casual elegant outfit that won’t be boring. Spicing the look up with a pineapple clutch and a bow-embellished sandals does the trick and for a chilled evening, I’m throwing a trench coat on my shoulders!

Diesel Black Gold / Chloe / Stella McCartney / Chanel

We all have that favourite pair of jeans that we always pull on, when we are to late for the next meeting – the ones that we trust, because they always save us on a bad day – the ones that we love the most. When the spring shows rolled out in the fall, it became very clear that Spring 2016 will be a new season for wearing our denims, but not quite in that slim way we have been use to. Some of our favourite designers showed us that the 90s jeans are coming back in a big, slouchy and wide-legged way. Think, Skater girl coming back in 2016 in a more refined way.

So if you want to nail that denim look of the season – go look at some favourites with the raw cut from Diesel Black Gold, the full skate look from Stella McCartney, the sportier version from Chloé and the elegant printed denim from one of our darlings, Chanel!

Saint Laurent and Miu Miu surely showed us how you should wear the grunge-chic look in a high-end exclusively way for a night how, but being a bit messy by nature the grunge look can be tricky, when it comes to office dressing. The secret is to not going all in. Go for an easy styling with layering short sleeves over long sleeves in light monochromatic tones to keep the look polished, but with a visible edge. We’ve gathered some inspiration for you to go out and grunge your day away!

    Spring/Summer 2016

If there is an unexpected colour that has dominated the spring runways, it’s yellow. So look towards the sun and go for the hue, in all shades from bright to mustard as seen on Stella McCartney and Joseph. Several street style stars has also been spotted in this strong colour. The colour is perfect for a summer tan combined with white or blue denims and other tones of yellow – to avoid the bumble-bee situation by pairing the colour with too much black.

From 80s shoulders and oversized knits it seems like this season is all about big on volume. A handful of our favourite designers at the moment, like Céline and Ellery, have experimented with the ballooning sleeves, which must be a detail to remember not only for spring, but coming into fall as well. Ruffles, plaids or plain oversize cuffs make the trick, just the bigger the better. It is a modern upgrade on coats, shirts and jackets, which turns around even the most simple and casual outfit. Look and get inspired by five of our favourite voluminous sleeves for spring.

The glam continues turning into a more futuristic sci-fi look with a lot of metallic. The shiny silver is having a moment like we saw on the runway at Loewe with the reflective leather and broken glass earrings. It is for sure an eye-catching trend that can shimmer up your everyday in a full-length look or by combining hints of metallic in your shoes, bag or accessories.

  10. How To Dress For Spring’s Big Pajama Party

Wearing pajamas in public is a new trend, but for spring/summer 2016 the bedroom look is an effortless addition to your classic wardrobe. Designers are taking the concept to a whole new level, and you won’t have to worry about looking too sloppy or frazzled. We will guide you to styling this new look so you can dress like you’re dreaming while fully awake! How to Style the pajamas Pajamas are timeless and relaxed, and Thakoon helped us understand how easily you can upgrade powder blue PJs by adding red trim, shortening the legs (like the ever popular culottes), and opening the shirtfront for a daring look. Pajamas are also the perfect item to bring along on your travels. Wear them in bed or on the go in the streets; adding to their versatility, they can be worn together or as separates. The shiny material on this one gives the look a luxurious touch, and by adding a blazer and a pair of splashy red pumps, it’s perfect for a night out. For a more relaxed look, go open-shirted with a t-shirt underneath. Or use pajamas separately like Alexander Wang showed, wearing the shirt over a pair of jeans and sling-backs, or combining the pants with a knit and sneakers for a more relaxed look.
